Teen Service Days
reminders before signing up for a TEEN SERVICE DAY:
are all the spots on the calendar full?
Teen Service Days
Teens provide much-needed help to Austin area nonprofits, while working alongside their peers, without a parent or guardian. These events give teens experience with volunteer projects in support of many different community needs.
The Generation SERVE Teen Advisory Board started our Teen Service Days to increase the number of volunteer opportunities for teens. These events are organized and co-led by members of the Youth Leadership Program and Teen Advisory Board, in coordination with our Youth Leadership Program staff.
Teens Volunteering with Friends
We love it when teens volunteer with their friends! Please share our registration form with the guardian of each participating teen. Each family must be registered with us before a teen can participate.
We want to hear from you!
Are there certain kinds of activities you would like to see on our Teen Service Day calendar? Contact us at email@example.com to provide your input and feedback on your Teen Service Day experiences.
Teen Service Day Frequently Asked Questions
What does "drop-off" mean?
These events are for teens only! Parents / guardians do not need to stay for the service activity. These events are created by teens and for teens.
why aren't these events on your family volunteering calendar?
These are teen-only events so they are different from our Family Volunteering activities, which require a parent or guardian to attend. Teens volunteer on their own, alongside other peers interested in philanthropy and volunteerism.
can I bring a friend?
Yes, you can bring a friend if they are a teen and they have signed up on the Teen Service Day calendar for that Teen Service Day. If this is their first Generation SERVE activity, please make sure to have their parent/guardian complete our online registration form before they attend.
What happens when the CALENDAR is full?
Please email Barbara, Youth Leadership Program Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to our waitlist! You can also check the calendar at a later time to see if there have been any cancellations.
what does teen-only mean?
Anyone who is in 6th - 12th grade is welcome to sign up and attend.
can siblings attend a teen service day?
Siblings who are not teenagers may not attend. Due to partner organizations' age requirements, staff capacity, and positive, peer-based experience, we ask that only teens attend these events.
what if I am part of the youth leadership program?
We will have limited spots available to co-lead and lead activities during Teen Service Days. Those interested in co-leading or leading these activities should contact Barbara at email@example.com. Opportunities for leading these activities will also be announced through your Youth Leadership calendar.
