Executive Director

Generation SERVE seeks an Executive Director – our next leader who will be able to build our organization within Austin, and beyond, by helping to inspire philanthropy and leadership while facilitating a reliable volunteer workforce for our non-profit community partners. We are looking for a dynamic mission-driven fundraiser with operations expertise, who isn’t afraid of the big ask, and who can build relationships and connections in the communities we serve.

Core Areas of Responsibility:
Leadership and Management:

1. Inspire and manage cross-functional employees in Austin and Houston, building teams that work collaboratively, and who share in the responsibility of building the organization both programmatically and financially.
2. Continue to develop a strong, engaged, and active Board in close partnership with the Board chair; Facilitate optimal performance of the Board, its committees, and volunteers and provide information to them in a transparent and timely manner.

Development & Marketing:

1. Ensure that the organization has a viable long-term financial plan and a diversified and sustainable funding base. Lead development planning and fundraising volunteers, taking accountability for ambitious annual goals by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting individuals, foundations, and companies.
2. Be a proactive fundraiser. Build relationships, and speak about our organization in a way that attracts major donors. Seek out large donors to ensure sustainability and long-term growth.
3. Drive messaging across all channels that clearly conveys both the impact and needs of our organization and the community we serve – as well as drives increased revenue to meet those needs.

 
Finance & Operations:

1. Lead the annual budget process and monitor daily expense and revenue transactions. Work closely with the Treasurer and 3rd party company to manage monthly budget reconciliation and reporting.
2. Ensure daily operations guided by an Employee Handbook and operating procedures for all programs.

 
Strategic Planning:

1. Be operationally excellent- lead by example, tracking metrics, long and short-term strategic and tactical planning.
2. Lead and support the programs team in meeting operational goals and long-term strategic plans.
3. Lead the team in continuing to build multi-age, intergenerational programming with a focus on continuous evaluation and improvement on the service model

The Right Candidate Will Have:

1. An entrepreneurial spirit and deep passion for Generation SERVE’s mission
2. A deep understanding of and commitment to equity and justice, critical for both the work we do in the community and its relevance to our mission 
3. Significant professional experience with demonstrated success leading teams, working with volunteers, handling significant management responsibilities within a complex, high-performing organization
4. Proven fundraising experience including direct solicitation of major gifts and a track record of leading successful fundraising programs or campaigns
5. A history of sound financial management of a similar sized organization
6. An appreciation for the team and a team builder – leading both internal and external partners/investors/constituents to achieve key goals.
7. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, engaging public speaking, and the ability to build relationships with donors and partners
8. Experience working with nonprofit program delivery in a youth-focused organization work a plus
9. Given the current environment, the ability to work remotely and conduct teambuilding/rapport-building both virtually and in-person

 Compensation:
The posted annual salary range for the position is $75,000 to $85,000. Candidates will be compensated based on their professional experience.

Development and Finance Assistant

Generation SERVE seeks a full-time Development and Finance Assistant to support our annual fundraising efforts. This position is generalist in nature and is an excellent opportunity for an emerging fundraising professional to grow his/her skills in a small but fast-paced and growing organization! The ideal candidate MUST be flexible, collaborative, self-motivated, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented, and be passionate about community engagement.

Job Responsibilities and Tasks:
The Development and Finance Assistant will work closely with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and development staff to support our ongoing development and finance efforts. He/She will report to the Executive Director and play an active role in helping to develop and implement monthly revenue and expenses tracking systems and maintaining daily gift processing and stewardship processes.

Primary responsibilities will include:

• ​Daily management of CRM (Salesforce), including donor record maintenance, gift processing, and acknowledgment letter generation; 
• Weekly cash forecasting and financial reporting; 
• Monthly reconciliation between development and accounting systems; 
• Monthly reporting for Board committees and meetings; 
• Monthly communications for donor renewals and pledge reminders;
• Compilation and tracking of the annual budget in close collaboration with the Executive Director, Houston Site Director, and Deputy Director;
• Close working relationships with third-party vendors supporting accounting functions; 
• Collaborating with the development team to secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities; 
• Assisting with the management of Generation SERVE's Family Sponsorship donor program, including:
  • On-boarding of all new Family Sponsors; 
  • Facilitating Family Sponsor benefits and Family Sponsor-exclusive events;
  • Prospecting and securing new Family Sponsors;
  • Renewing and/or upgrading Family Sponsors on a 12-month cycle; and 
  • Providing excellent and donor/volunteer-focused customer service.
• Support for the donor stewardship plan, assuring stewardship tasks are assigned to the proper staff/Board member and donors are thanked in a timely manner;
• Collaboration with the development team on all fundraising campaigns/appeals, including Amplify Austin, Giving Tuesday, and our holiday campaign; 
• Assistance with event execution by managing event timelines, contracts, and budgets, communicating with venues, and other logistical duties.

Skills and Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess:

• A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years in a development/fundraising role;
• Understanding of development practices and philanthropic culture;
• Experience utilizing CRM software, ideally Salesforce;
• Experience reconciling development and accounting records;
• Time-management and self-motivation;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Sense of humor and desire to work in a team-oriented culture;
• Demonstrated personal commitment to volunteerism and the community; and
• Ability to work evenings and/or weekends on a limited, but as needed, basis.
