Family Volunteer Day Presented by H-E-B

Come curious and leave inspired! Family Volunteer Day is our way of celebrating a national day of service in our local Austin community. By coming together on one day, Generation SERVE’s Family Volunteer Day makes an immediate impact benefiting over 20 local non-profit partners while helping youth discover the joy of giving back here at home.

What to Expect

It’s an afternoon of hands-on projects that support local nonprofits in all eight of our service areas: Animal Welfare, Arts & Culture, Basic Needs, Education & Literacy, Environment & Sustainability, Health & Wellness, Senior Support, and Youth Services.

Your family can move from table to table, where project facilitators will guide youth through each activity. Along the way, you’ll meet our community partners and see how your service makes a difference. Designed for youth of all ages. Younger children may require assistance from their grown up for some activities.

Choose Your Session and RSVP

Registered Generation SERVE families can choose from two shifts. Please note that 1.5 hours is the maximum activity credit for Family Volunteer Day per volunteer.

In addition to our service projects, the event will feature other fun engagement opportunities like temporary tattoos, a photo booth, Generation SERVE merch table, and our 9 to 5 Book Drive collection station.

9 to 5 Book Drive Celebrating Dolly Parton

Drop off new or gently loved children’s books at Family Volunteer Day and be part of something bigger than one afternoon. Every book collected will go to BookSpring, one of Generation SERVE’s community partners, which works to get books into the hands of local kids. Dolly Parton is known for her lifelong love of butterflies, books and giving back. In her honor, every book you donate becomes a small wingbeat: one story that can spark a child’s imagination, build their love of reading and ripple out across our community.

For this event, we can only accept new or gently used:

This activity is a part of our Family Volunteering program and designed to be a family experience. At least two family members, including at least one adult, are required to work alongside each other for these activities and experience volunteerism together. Child drop-off is not allowed for this activity.
